Aging at Home Services & Universal Design
Goal - assist residents who wish to remain in their homes as they age and their needs and abilities change, through our design and construction services.
Design - efficient, yet cost effective design is achieved through utilization of principles found in:
- The International Residential Code (IRC) – the residential building code
- Principles of Universal Design (NC State University, The Center for Universal Design)
- ADA Standards for Accessible Design – “the” standard for accessible design
- Our own extensive experience - working with seniors and on ADA compliant projects
- Utilization of standard construction materials, installation procedures and components wherever practical
- Utilization of manufactured components instead of custom designs or “site-built” components – knowing what is available and where to obtain it
- Contractors who are familiar with the designs, materials and techniques which are required
